Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas announced on Tuesday that former Spain international defender Jordi Alba will be joining the team, reuniting with his former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets. Mas confirmed the signing after the team’s training session, stating that Alba’s contract will be finalized today. The 34-year-old left-back, who has 93 appearances for Spain, terminated his contract with Barcelona in May. Mas also revealed that Inter Miami is actively seeking to strengthen their squad, especially since they are currently at the bottom of the Major League Soccer rankings.
During his time with Barcelona, Alba had a successful career, winning six Spanish league titles and playing a crucial role in the team’s 2015 Champions League victory. He also contributed to Spain’s national team triumph in the 2012 European Championship.
On Tuesday, Messi and Busquets participated in their first training session with Miami, which may lead to their debut in the upcoming match against Mexico’s Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup on Friday.
